Understand Filter Bags for De-Watering

Filter bags are most commonly used for dewatering as one of the most inexpensive solution. Dewatering bags are portable, easy to install and remove filter bags made of geotextile fabric and are generally made up in custom sizes to fit in your exact requirements. Dewatering filter bags are also known as Silt Filter bags or Sediment filter bags because of its application for sediment control.

Basic Working Pricipal of DeWatering Bag:

This specially designed dewatering bags are installed at the end of the contaminated water exit and the later will pass though this filter bag. As per the property of this fabric it holds back all the sediment particles and pass on the clean water through it.

Most Common Application of De-Watering Filter Bags:

  1. Storm Water Runoff Dewatering : Dewatering and Sediment Filter Bags are the most common option for removing unwanted materials from discharge or storm water runoff.
  2. Construction Site Dewatering : site water is pumped into the bag, much of the sediment is retained by the geotextile fabric allowing filtered water to pass through.
  3. Dumpster Dewatering : An unique & efficient way to separate water from solid. You simply connect a hose containing the solids water mixture to the Dumpster Bag and the water drains out.
  4. Silt Filtration : Sediment-laden water is pumped into the bag filtered water passed through the geotextile bag.

  5. Sludge Dewatering : Sludge dewatering is typically the final step for industrial waste water treatment processes and plants. After wastewater treatment the sludge remaining is very high in water content that can be reclaimed through sludge dewatering.

Benefits of De-Watering Bags:

  • Portable simple - and quick
  • Reusable and recyclable
  • Less pollution risk
  • Cleans contaminated water ast it’s place
  • No need to remove water by tanker
  • Can be made easily in custom sizes
  • Most cost effective dewatering technique

5 Techniques expert tips for woodworking shop dust collectors

Dust in wood shop is extremely hazardous, wood dust can cause serious illness to a person who is exposed to it for long duration. Managing wood chips and fine sanding dust could be a typical task in a wood working shop. So we came out to share 10 great techniques (experts done on youtube) which could help you make your shop  cleaner while protecting your lungs from the hazardous wood dust.

Technique no. 1 –
See how Bill Cortez installed a centralized dust collection system in his 20’ X 30’ shop with a ducting made of 4” gutter pipes, which he joined by just using glue. He also made a good point by avoiding as many 90 degree turns as possible in the ducting to lower air friction.
Sharp turns  in a dust collector ducting cause serious air pressure drop in dust collection systems.

Technique no. 2 -
So now we take you over to Steve who is waiting for his new dust collector to arrive at his shop. Meanwhile he decided to tell us all from his experience that what kind of dust collector should one buy and what are the things to be kept in consideration before buying one.
Dust collection job is really important for a healthy shop and workers so lets understand from Steve How to decide the right dust collector for your shop

Technique no.3 -
And here is Matthias Wandel who was unable to find a efficient blower, so he decided to            build out himself one from wood only. And yes in the end it actually was much more         efficient than the dust collector blower he had in his shop. Lets find out how

Technique no. 4 -
And now we have a dust collector a blower and ducting we need, but connecting them                 together is a tricky task. Flexible tubing’s do not fir in PVC pipes easily and too much             pressure or clamping cal result in additional leakage or damage.  So here is Jhon who is going               to explain some tips and trick for joining pvc pipes to flexible ductings in an efficient way.

Technique no. 5 -

Having the ducting connect 12 different machines at your shop with only one centralized             dust collector, you must focus the suction capability of the dust collector on only one           machine at a time, for this you require blast gates aka knife gates, here James Halbert explains how to make automatic blast gates

Liquid Filters to Reclaim Precious Metals.

Rising cost of precious metals and thirst for getting better performances in the processes has opened a door towards growing popular use of liquid filters. Though the principal behind this is very simple that use an effective filtration method to hold the small particles in liquid suspension while machining or any other production process.  But there are challenges for instance if the metals are to be recovered from coating or electroplating process then they are supposed to be in very aggressive liquid & again removing very fine particles of metal is difficult to do.

Understanding Mechanism of Coalescing Filter
Every challenge has got a solution too. Coalescing filter elements and Particulate filter elements made of borosilicate glass micro fibres are considered to be ideal for this kind of process that too without any end caps or supports or any extra materials. So a simply following heating process until glass and the precious metals melt and separate will do the job. This will work for all the materials/ metals that don’t get destroyed till melting temperature of borosilicate glass microfibers.

Article take away and Precautions

1. Prefer particulate filter element for reclaiming process for precious metals.
2. Flow the liquid from outside to inside direction to help increase the life of filter.
3. Use Polypropylene made caps for the housings.
4. Take care the material should note get destroyed till melting temp of glass microfiber.

COST CUTTING ON INDUSTRIAL FILTERS : A HUGE ECONOMIC MISTAKE

It has become a requirement to use filters in manufacturing processes at various industries across the globe.  These Industrial Filters have their own significance and are extremely useful in purifying air, oil, water, clothes, Feed Pumps and several other materials. What is really shocking is that some of the manufacturing companies tend to use low-quality filters so that they could cut down their costs and stay within their budget, and could earn greater profits. But they make losses in this plan of cost-cutting as they override the fact that the use of poor filtration will only shorten the life of their machine. Also, it will result in severely affecting the critical parts of their machine, and instead of cost-cutting, it will considerably increase their budget only resulting in greater losses in their production. Hence, Industrial Filters of high quality are a real must for smooth and efficient production to take place.

Let’s have a first look of Types of Industrial Filters readily available:
1.       Hydraulic Filters: They are used to especially purify petroleum-based liquids and various other oil products. Also, they play a major role in helping to purify impurities which are present in the oil. Apart from just purifying petroleum products, they could also be used to purify fluids containing water. The physical appearance of hydraulic Filters is that they are cylindrical in shape along with small holes on the sides.
2.      Bag Filters: They are used for removal of big solid products. There construction includes nonwoven materials. Liquid materials such as Ink and Paint Strainers make use of these filters. When the liquid is made to flow through it, the impure solid products are collected in the bag.
3.      Panel Filters: they are mostly used in ventilation systems and in air conditioning. They are available in various sizes but always come in plane-shape.
4.      Air Filter: They are made up of polypropylene mesh or polyethylene. The air filter is very commonly used for removal of dust and various other impurities from the air.

Also available over the market are Industrial Filter Spare Parts of diverse kinds, which could easily be bought. Some of them are:

Filter Clothes: These filter clothes are used for various air and water filters. They can also be used for face masks. They can easily be worn, with added features of moisture resistance and are easy to wash. Adding to its long list of ups is that they are available in different size and colours according to the need of the customers. They are known for their strength and efficiency. The filter cloth can also be used in Ceramic, Steel, Alloy and other industries.

Filter Feed Pumps: They are basically used for the precision working of Industrial Filters. They maintenance charges are low. Yet, they give an excellent performance. But for that to happen, they need to be bought from reliable vendors.

The last word that we can offer is that better be a skeptical consumer while buying any product. Also, never compromise upon the quality of Industrial Filters as well as their spare parts. Else, you would be the one at a loss.
